On September 21st 2017 We became the third Itinerant vendor licensed by the city of Canton, Ohio since 2011! We are very proud of this fact having completed all the prerequisite checks and balances of the requirements to sell within the city limits of Canton, Ohio!
LICENSE UPDATE: September 14th 2018, our Itinerant permit was approved to provide food service for the Canton Ohio Cultural Center of the Arts.
I've decided to publish a copy of my permit for several reasons, but mostly to make it easier for anyone to investigate the validity of my ability to legally operate the Towpath Trail Snack Shack within the city limits of Canton, Ohio! Why would this even matter to me when anyone can telephone the Canton, Ohio Public Safety Department Licenses and Permits Bureau and simply ask? Would you believe, that during the first three weeks of operating outside the south plaza in downtown Canton, Ohio after we obtained permission from the business owner at 2306 West Tuscarawas Street that we've experienced, what one could interpret as a form of harassment type inquiries, almost on a weekly basis.

My name is Joe Rinehart and I recently donated a 12' to 20' easement to close the last remaining gap between New Philadelphia and Cleveland on the Ohio & Erie towpath trail. I've decided to establish a Snack Shack and Peace Park at the intersection where the Greenville Peace Treaty Line crosses the towpath trail which is also 1.5 miles from Fort Laurens. We offer a website with links to our social media from https://towpathtrailsnackshack.com with more detailed information about the Towpath Trail Snack Shack & Peace Park for your review.
Opened August 3rd 2017 on the 222nd anniversary of the Greenville Peace Treaty Line! The Greenville Peace Treaty was the first peace treaty by our current government having been authorized by George Washington & the 1st US Congress.
We sell all beef hickory smoked Franks (AKA hot dogs), exotic sausages like bison, caribou, elk, venison, smoked sausages, bratwurst, hamburgers*, French fries*, sweet corn, soups, pickle on a stick, jerky, trail-mix, granola, chips, frozen ice pops, ice cold Pepsi products, bottled water and & more to the bikers, hikers and dog walkers enjoying the towpath and various events along the trail while promoting the early American history related to our property.
*contingent upon outdoor 10x10 tent menu plan availability and weather.
To generate the revenue to allow us to develop in stages a permanent Snack Shack on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail with a Peace Park Rest Area and for it’s long term maintenance.
To also promote the history of America’s 1st Peace Treaty, it’s relationship to Ohio’s only Revolutionary war era Fort Laurens, and the closure of the last remaining gap in the 100 mile long Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail currently severed at the Tuscarawas/Stark county line!

I’m also currently a member of the Bolivar-Zoar Rotary Club (Past President 2016-17), Tuscarawas Chamber of Commerce, & the Community Business Association of Northern Tuscarawas County,
We’ve also passed all prerequisite background checks for a City of Canton, Ohio Itinerant permit.
While we have a generator to provide electric for our trailer, we’d like to ask to provide electric hookup. We believe that this would allow us to operate without the noise of a generator and would provide better public safety of both foot and passing automotive traffic. However, our cart is completely self contained.
We attempt to maintain a 1788-89 Revolutionary war & 1830’s Ohio-Erie canal era theme to our menu.
