Earth Day Clean-up
Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail
Scenic Byway Route 212
10 AM to Noon
We are participating in the Adopt-A-Trail program for the Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail on the Tuscarawas county line at the McDonnell trail-head. Upon development of the trail from McDonnell to Bolivar in 2019-20, we plan to adopt the trail through to the Bolivar ballparks. We've also applied with the ODOT Adopt-A-Highway Scenic Byway Rt 212 Bolivar.
Our long term mission will also include the goal of removing tires from the Tuscarawas River from the McDonnell Trail through to the Canal Lands trailhead in Zoar, Ohio.
Our first clean-up will take place at the McDonnell Trailhead after a brief safety introduction and long-term planning session for a Tuscarawas River Trash and Tires clean-up project.
We will currently focus within the boundaries of the McDonnell trailhead, Ohio & Erie Canalway Scenic Byway 212 Bolivar and the Bolivar ballparks section of the trail. We will NOT be cleaning the section not yet developed since it's planned already during the construction.
Liability releases and a safety class are required for both the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, Ohio Department of Transportation and the Village of Bolivar to participate which may be signed at the event.
We are also pursuing our first Earth Day cleanup as an annual event since 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! More information about Earthday can be found at URL:
