Snack Shack

  • peace treaty snack shack towpath trail bolivarThe Towpath Trail Snack Shack idea came about after several years of pondering how we could use our historic property to compliment the towpath trail easement we expected. In May 2016, my family agreed to donate a 12'-20' easement of property frontage for the towpath trail to cross. All the really cool ideas like log cabin rentals, primitive camping etc, ended adding up to a lot of money to get started. In the course of planning with local authorities after having the easement surveyed, it was determined that an old barn looking type shed wouldn't have to be moved to make way for the trail. Then the old proverbial light bulb lit up with the idea, "what if we worked on renovating the shed to become a snack shack?"

  • snack shack poppies bloom

In May 2016. my family agreed to donate a 12'-20' section our our property frontage to the Ohio & Erie Canal-way Towpath Trail which was needed to close the last remaining gap between Tuscarawas county and Cleveland, Ohio. In Dec 2013 the Bolivar aqueduct McDonnell trail head was dedicated which brought the trail to the Tuscarawas-Stark county line. In 2016 the Bolivar trail was developed to about 20 feet of our property line. In 2019 the trail development will include our property to the Wheeling & Lake Erie 12' 6" Railroad bridge and from the McDonnell trail-head to the bridge. In 2019, the bridge shelter and two sections will be joined.

The about section is broke down to focus on either "About the Snack Shack" and "About the Peace Park" that we may include specific information about how each evolved.

  • On September 21st 2017 We became the third Itinerant vendor licensed by the city of Canton, Ohio since 2011! We are very proud of this fact having completed all the prerequisite checks and balances of the requirements to sell within the city limits of Canton, Ohio!

canton ohio itinerant permit joe rinehart

I've decided to publish a copy of my permit for several reasons, but mostly to make it easier for anyone to investigate the validity of my ability to legally operate the Towpath Trail Snack Shack within the city limits of Canton, Ohio! Why would this even matter to me when anyone can telephone the Canton, Ohio Public Safety Department Licenses and Permits Bureau and simply ask? Would you believe, that during the first three weeks of operating outside the south plaza in downtown Canton, Ohio after we obtained permission from the business owner at 2306 West Tuscarawas Street that we've experienced, what one could interpret as a form of harassment type inquiries, almost on a weekly basis.
